“Karasakal Mosque”

Architectural Conservation (Documentation, Restitution and Restoration) Project

Bayburt, 2014-2015

Karasakal Mosque is located on Karasakal Street in Bayburt.  It is thought that Mosque was built during the Abdulhamit Period (1876-1909). The mosque, which had a great fire in the late 1960s, was rebuilt in 1970 with significant changes. The main entrance of the mosque, which has a balanced structure with its cubic body, copper plate-plated dome and polygonal body minaret, is located in the southwest corner.
